A Better Week

This week has been better. Alyssa is still doing well and we don't think that she has had anymore seizures. I realized that with the crazy week before that I hadn't really had a chance to sit down and explain to her what a seizure is and what this all means! No wonder why she was so quiet about it all! So, on Sunday, I found several websites that explained seizures and epilepsy to kids and she read through those and then asked a lot of questions. She seems much less worried and quiet about it all and loves to say the word "epilepsy"!

Jared is doing better and is back to school. His ear is still draining some but is much better and his cough is all about gone. He is glad to be back at school especially since they are talking about transportation this week. His favorite subject! He was so excited to tell me about how they pretended to drive cars yesterday on scooter boards and went through the car wash and through tunnels. He was in heaven!

He had transplant clinic on Tuesday and everything is still looking AWESOME! We don't have to go back to clinic for 3 months! Amazing! It was so nice to see all of our great friends back at clinic. We love everyone there and they all love Jared! We are so blessed to have such wonderful people taking care of him! The only bad part about getting to wait 3 months before going back is that we won't see all of our friends for 3 months either. :)

Tyler has had a good week as well. He just found out that he won 1st place in the district for his poem about Jared's donor and is now going on to the state competition. He was so excited! The school science fair was a couple of weeks ago and he took 3rd place with his project about extracting DNA from eggs. He went on to the District science fair, which was last night, and is now moving on to the big Regional science fair next month. He is so excited to be moving on with this as well (especially since he gets to miss a day of school to attend)! The fun part was that his two best friends also went on to the district fair last night and they are also moving on to regionals as well. They had so much fun being able to do it together and I had much more fun because I had friends to talk to as well! :)

It's been nice to have just a regular week. Hopefully things will keep being uneventful for a little while!

I am glad things are more normal for you guys. Jade told me yesterday that Alyssa has been talking to her about the epilepsy and how she is doing.

We have had quite a week with Jacob medically: an ER trip from croup and then instacare with a double ear infection. Nice.

Kimber is scheduled for surgery to have her tonsils out mid-March. So much for the healthy kids idea. :)

Hugs & Prayers,
Christina

PS my word verification to post this comment is "drown", do you think the computer is trying to tell me something??? :)
